CHROMATIC ALTERATIONS- INTRO

Intro

Scales/ chords with chromatic alterations are used as follows:

1 To anticipate a following chord note by preceding that note with a tension note.

The ear tends to remember the out of place, discordant note and waits for / anticipates the harmonious / concordant note

2 To step down or up to a chord note

3 To invigorate a triad by changing one of its notes

All 7 notes of the scale can be altered to produce tension / an outside sound
